Effect of Water Deficit at Different Growth Periods on Yield, Quality and Water Productivity of Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum l.) under Central Sudan Agro-climatic Zone

A field experiment was conducted during two consecutive seasons of 2020/21 and 2021/22 at the Sugarcane Research Center Farm – Gunied, (Central Sudan Agro-climatic zone), to evaluate effect water deficit irrigation different growth periods on yield, quality productivity sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) Variety Co 6806. The study designed in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) replicated three times. Irrigation treatments were applied when available soil moisture content (ASMC) reached 25% root zone eight periods. begun from plant age 51th day day100th which first treatment (DT1), day101th 150th second (DT2), 151th 200th third (DT3), then same period length 50 days fallow other till DT8 crop 401th 450th. These compared with optimum (DT0) irrigated 60% ASMC zone. Results showed that all (DT1 DT8) recorded significant cane sugar yield reduction than control growing seasons. In this sense, DT1, DT2, DT3, have highest productivity. Therefore, for planting November must be avoided 6.7th month 13.3th month.
